VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley (http://vcahospitals.com/veterinary-specialists-valley) is seeking an Instrument Sterilization Assistant to complement our Team in Woodland Hills, California. We have full-time or part-time positions available, with the flexibility to work at least one weekend shift.

The hourly range for this position is $18-$21. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials.

Instrument Assistants are responsible for:

• Clean and sterilize surgical instruments

• Be able to properly use and perform maintenance on autoclave, ultrasonic and all cleaning devices.

• Have or be willing to obtain a gas sterilizer certificate

• Properly pack instruments using the correct indicators containers and pouches

• Maintain and care for surgical instruments and equipment.

• Maintain a log of surgical instruments and pull lists for different surgical procedures

• Surgical scrub laundry and some general cleaning in surgery areas

• Organizing surgical rooms on a daily a basis

• Prepare/clean operating rooms prior to surgery and after surgery

• Familiarity of sterile technique to open instruments during a surgery

• Possibly running bloodwork, assisting with patient care and positioning for x-rays
