A Day in the Life

This is a strategic role to accelerate the growth of Medtronic Surgical OU through inorganic approach. The BD Manager will provide support to BD Leader and be a close partner with business leaders to identify and prioritize inorganic growth needs and develop inorganic strategy. This person will build up a pipeline of BD targets through networking and research and execute the transaction to deliver inorganic growth contributing to overall business.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop inorganic growth strategy by analyzing business needs through collaboration with upstream marketing, R&D and other functional input

  • Lead transaction execution work including building investment thesis, build financial model, conduct due diligence, prepare presentation to executives by collaborating with cross functional team

  • Build business cases for each BD project in collaboration with business team to determine revenue and calculate NPV to evaluate the financial impact to the business

  • Build up a pipeline of potential partners and define prioritization criteria through working with external (banker, investor, lawyer, consultant) and internal resources

  • Act as business representative in initial contact with candidates for BD partnership including M&A, licensing, minority investment, etc. with partnership with corporate finance and legal

  • Present strategy and deal thesis to stakeholders at multiple levels and gain alignment and build consensus

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Disired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA Degree is a plus

  • 5+ years’ experience working in medical device environment.

  • 3+ years’ experience working in Business Development, investment, banking, or management consulting roles

  • Good experience of working with cross-functional team and managing multiple stakeholders

  • Demonstrated excellent downward, lateral, and upward communication skills (oral/presentation and written).

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, quantitative analysis, and problem solving skills.

  • Demonstrated high degree of initiative and influence management skills.

  • Speak both English and Chinese. Willing to locate in Shanghai
