Summary

The Engineering Technician will be responsible for the implementation, support and training of/on state-of-the-art electronic manufacturing techniques, documenting/improving assembly procedures and assuring that production associates have the knowledge, tools and ability to meet our delivery and quality requirements. The primary focus will be the support of the production processes in the area of electronic manufacturing including but not limited to the Podimetrics cell. You will provide Day-to-Day support on the production floor to help eliminate factors preventing our production associates from meeting their goals of On-Time-Delivery and superior product Quality to our customers as well as work within the Manufacturing Engineering group to recognize and address process issues and better position the organization for additional and more difficult future opportunities. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to, working with the Customer Focus Teams on the accurate and timely completion of RFQ’s, specification reviews and product release process.

Detailed Description

JOB DUTIES

• Owns the assigned priority projects provided by the Manufacturing Engineers coordinating with other Manufacturing Engineers and Production Management.

• Identify manufacturing issues and implement potential solutions with support from Manufacturing Engineering. Report on the results of the changes.

• Support the Manufacturing Engineering group to gather data, provide data, analyze information and arrive at logical conclusions based upon this data to develop, monitor, and debug new methods and procedures to ensure system efficiencies.

• Train production employees in the documentation, tools, work techniques, and skills required to accomplish work assignments

• Create documentation including work instruction, perform programming of equipment, training operators and provide troubleshooting and general maintenance of equipment.

• Ensure manufacturing has the processes, tools/equipment, knowledge and support necessary to provide a highly reliable, superior quality product delivered on-time. Identify and solution gaps or improvements necessary to our processes and communicate the findings to Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor and other management personnel.

• Identify and correct documentation errors in routers, MAPs, drawings, procedures, etc. Solicit the help of our production associates to improve product quality, eliminate needless costs and improve overall quality, then implement these solutions.

• Generate Time Studies, perform APQP, experimental outlines and equipment (IQ, OQ, PQ) or material evaluations.

• Assure AbelConn, LLC supplies a safe, clean, well organized and ergonomically friendly work environment for all production associates. Ensure all safety policies are being followed and report all safety concerns to Supervisor, Human Resources or Safety Committee members.

• Provides assistance as required in helping to meet our quality commitments as required in the ISO 9001 and AS 9100 quality program.

• Be an active participant in our NPI Team and Operations to utilize our manufacturing software system to revise BOMs, routings and procedures in accordance with our established RFC and ECO processes.

• Work closely with and/or lead improvement teams.

• Aids in the development and implementation of cost reduction opportunities.

• Support the Manufacturing engineering group and with the Quality group to prepare and document RFC’s and DMN’s to improve processes and quality.

• May be required to perform direct labor duties to support manufacturing needs that are not mentioned above. This description reflects the principal functions of the job and should not be construed as a detailed responsibility list for every function described.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS • Associate Degree in a technical, electrical or mechanical focus or relevant experience.• 3 years of experience in electronics manufacturing in a technical • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge in Lean and 6 Sigma practices. • High aptitude for Aegis MES, MS Office and database applications required.• Will be required to obtain certification to J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610.• Demonstrated proficiency for oral and written communication including technical writing. • Ability to travel as needed for training requirements• Scheduled overtime may be required.• Job duties require working with and around chemicals. • Visual exams are required pre-hire and biennial to confirm visual acuity of 20/20 with or without glasses along with passing a standard color vision exam. • Must be able to perform job functions while using a scope.AbelConn is a US ITAR facility and positions with AbelConn involve the release of export controlled goods either directly to employees or through the employee’s movement within the facility. As such, AbelConn will require necessary information from all applicants upon an applicant’s acceptance of employment to determine if any export control exemptions or licenses must be filed.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of the position are performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.

  • Duties require extended periods of sustained visual concentration on detailed documentation and product assemblies.

  • Duties of the position require periodic light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions, sitting in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials.

  • Duties may require periodic heavy manual effort including lifting objects over 20 pounds.

Typical Experience

  • Two to Four years relevant experience

Typical Education

  • Two or three year community college diploma in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
