Associate Research Scientist – Kansas City, KS

Kelly Science and Clinical is recruiting for a qualified Associate Scientist in Kansas City, KS. This position is for a for a start-up biotechnology company that specializes in medical diagnostics devices. The Associate Scientist will work on the research team alongside engineers and scientists to develop rapid antibiotic susceptibility tests (AST) using patented technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, and execute sub-projects within the overall product development plan.

  • Design, plan and execute day-to-day experiments as required by the projects.

  • Analyze experimental results, document details accurately, and write reports.

  • Develop SOPs and protocols for the experiments.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose experimental or product development issues

  • Research and develop innovative solutions to address developmental efforts

  • Communicate with and summarize research updates to the engineering, scientific, andmanagement team.

  • Keep abreast of scientific literature and attend professional conferences.

  • Travel as necessary to perform duties.

  • Perform general laboratory maintenance and operations upkeep as needed.

Qualifications/Education/Skills:

  • MS/BS in biomedical engineering or related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years post-graduation experience in an industry research setting

  • Demonstrated experience planning project studies, and experiments, developing SOPs, & reporting results.

  • Detail-oriented, with excellent observational and interpretation skills.

  • Self-motivated, curious, and enthusiastic individual.

  • Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in a start-up environment.

  • Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control procedures.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel/VBA, MATLAB, or other software languages

Pay : $55,000+/year based on experience

Hours: Full-time, M-F, 8AM – 5PM
