BCAA Online Community Manager, BCAA Connect in *Head Office, Canada

We are currently hiring a Online Community Manager for our new BCAA Connect platform.

This is a hybrid role based on our Burnaby, BC (British Columbia) Head Office. Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our 4567 Canada Way office and/or are not looking to relocate to BC will not be considered for this position.  

As a Manager, BCAA Connect you will be responsible for launching and fostering the growth of BCAA Connect , an online community platform in the Peer-to-Peer Marketplace portfolio. The core focus of this innovative role is to set the strategic vision for the community, craft a compelling user content and engagement strategy and execute both the vision and strategy. You will be instrumental in the overall strategic direction of BCAA by helping connect our Members to each other on topics and initiatives that are relevant to residents of British Columbia and that align with the master brand of BCAA.

Once you’re here, you’ll :

  • Lead the launch and successful daily operations of the BCAA Connect community.

  • Plan, schedule, and prioritize implementation of user features in the community platform.

  • Leverage understanding of high-volume, consumer-facing online communities to co-design a compelling user experience and engagement strategy with the product team.

  • Identify and implement innovative content creation practices and tactics that will inspire community members to generate user content, refer others to the community and develop a vibrant and supportive peer-to-peer community ethos.

  • Develop and manage marketing and promotion strategies, content development budgets and user adoption forecasts.

  • Stay up to date with B2C community-building trends, tools and best practice and share learnings and new recommendations with the Marketplace team.

  • Work closely with customer service team to understand customer needs

  • Proactively identify new ways to provide value or change our engagement or content strategy.

  • Confidently present and promote the BCAA Connect community at all levels of the organization.

  • Identify and recommend relevant topics for engaging content from within BCAA and the community in alignment with the Marketplace and BCAA Connect strategy.

  • Prioritize engagement on general topics of community interest, e.g. leveraging BCAA Member benefits, solving household and travel service needs, and providing localized disaster relief support.

  • Actively write content articles, post discussions, and participate in user threads daily.

  • Manage cross-functional collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.

What you bring:

  • Post graduate degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or any other related field.

  • Minimum 5-7 years in a marketing, communications, customer success or community leadership position.

  • A grasp of the dynamics of online communities, including community building strategies, moderation techniques, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment.

  • Ability to develop and implement creative strategies to grow and engage the community.

  • Awareness of cultural differences and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful community environment for members from diverse backgrounds across the province.

  • Willingness to adapt to changing circumstances, community needs, and evolving trends and interests of British Columbians.

  • Recent and extensive experience managing dynamic stakeholders, both internal and external.

  • Demonstrated operational excellence and have a focus on leveraging technology for efficiency while balancing costs.

  • Proven financial acumen, with a strong understanding of financial management, including budget planning, cost controls, and financial statement analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead large scale projects that deliver measurable results.

  • Advance MS Office and IT systems and software management.

Bonus Skills!

  • Operational experience (marketing, sales, product development).

  • Previous experience in a high profile, B2C, fast-moving organization.

  • Previous experience in a Public Relations/Communications capacity.

The salary range for this position is $ $88,000 to $110,000 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 12.5%, with the opportunity to earn up to 20%.
