What you’ll be doing

You will be joining CIBC’s US Infrastructure Planning & Engineering team. The Senior Infrastructure Operations Manager is to manage our organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring its smooth operation and optimal performance.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding in Network technologies and concepts, and Infrastructure Platform systems (ie. Data Center builds and management, VMware technologies, Azure, Active Directory, Messaging, Storage arrays, physical server technologies, and related Azure services.

This role is focused on Service Management, and will require a good understanding of network and infrastructure management, coupled with excellent managerial and service management skills in order to lead and collaborate with team members.

Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of infrastructure including network and infrastructure compute platforms, ensuring its efficiency, reliability, and security. This role requires strong leadership abilities, technical expertise and a proactive approach to problem solving.

  • Manage and lead a team of network and infrastructure engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.

  • Manage a team of technical SMEs and ensure delivery of designs, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure and network infrastructure, including data centers, VMWare, VDIs, Active Directory services and supporting infrastructure services, as well as circuits, routers, switches, firewalls and wireless.

  • Responsible for ensuring monitoring of network performance, troubleshooting of issues, and implementing solutions to optimize performance and minimize downtime.

  • Manage vendor relationships, host quarterly business reviews, and measure key performance indicators for third party suppliers.

  • Collaborate with Information Security to develop and maintain compliance to security policies and standard for infrastructure systems, as well as network security protocols, including firewalls.

  • Assist technology and business teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure and network systems with other technical platforms.

  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to infrastructure and network configurations, procedures, policies, disaster recovery and service continuity.

  • Participate in the planning and implementation of infrastructure platform hardware and software upgrades, network upgrades and expansions.

  • Oversee infrastructure and network capacity planning and currency refresh activities.

  • Stay up-to-date on infrastructure and network trends including currency, cloud hybrid integrations & migrations, onprem solutions, SD-Wan, Cloud, cybersecurity.

Please note that this role will require onsite presence in downtown Chicago office atleast 2 days per week while rest of the days may be remote.

How You’ll Succeed

Leadership Skills: Act as the senior infrastructure operations manager and provide advisory and leadership to ensure that teams’ day-to-day and project activities are managed, and on track to meet objectives. Support other team members by sharing knowledge, collaborating and problem solving.

Strong Communication Skills: You are a strong written/verbal communicator who is willing to speak up to ensure clear communication channels with team members and other teams. You are able to clearly communicate with different team members and teams while also being able to communicate to executive leadership when required.

Technological Expertise: You are able to demonstrate a strong technical understanding in Networks and Infrastructure. Utilizing your skillset in a technical leadership capacity to drive progress and provide resolution to any issues that may arise.

Who You Are

You can demonstrate 8+ years of experience in the following.

  • Proven experience in infrastructure management, preferably in a leadership role

  • Good general knowledge and hands-on experience with networking technologies and concepts, as well as infrastructure technologies and concepts (i.e.. VMware technologies, Horizon, VDI, Active Directory, Azure, Windows Server, Storage, etc.)

  • Strong management skills to lead a team of network and infrastructure engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship, along with the oversight of infrastructure and network capacity planning and currency refresh activities

  • Ability to manage a team of technical SMEs and ensure delivery of designs, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure platforms and network infrastructure, including data centers, VMWare, VDIs, Active Directory services and supporting infrastructure services, as well as circuits, routers, switches, firewalls and wireless.

  • Lead a team in ensuring monitoring of network performance, troubleshooting of issues, and implementing solutions to optimize performance and minimize downtime.

  • Ability to manage vendor relationships, host quarterly business reviews, and measure key performance indicators for third party suppliers.

  • Driven to collaborate with other internal partners like Information Security to drive compliance to security policies and standard for infrastructure systems, as well as network security protocols, including firewalls.

  • Ability to liaise with technology and business teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure and network systems with other technical platforms.

  • Organized and able to manage the delivery of key artifacts, and documentation related to infrastructure and network configurations, procedures, policies, disaster recovery and service continuity.

  • Ability to oversee the teams’ streams of currency and project activities for the planning and implementation of infrastructure platform hardware and software upgrades, network upgrades and expansions.
